Hand Made Thai Silk
Hand made Thai silk has been world renowned for centuries as the “Queen of Fibres†because of its beautiful lustre, sensual texture and stunning array of colours.
Residence Fine Furniture is able to offer an almost unlimited range of the most beautiful hand made Thai silk.
Our silk is made in the traditional Thai way – by hand, using wooden reels, spindles and looms. All thread is hand dyed in boiling water over open fires, and sun-dried, before the fabric is woven.
Our silk is custom made to order by the running meter or we can have it made up for you to meet your particular professional or home decorating needs.
Our range of high quality silks is the largest available in Australia , and we offer a truly unique product and service to home decorators and professional designers alike.
Our silk offers you the widest choices:

The four different silk yarn types are:
- Buoy Yarn- the finest and shiniest yarn that produces highly iridescent fabric – a hallmark of Thai silk. It is most suited to soft furnishings and fashion.
- Chan Yarn- a less expensive alternative to Buoy - has a slightly rougher texture than Buoy, and is also suitable for soft furnishings and fashion.
- Dupiem (Dupion) Yarn- a versatile flat textured yarn, also suitable for furnishings and fashion.
- Sri Pimai Yarn- the coarsest yarn, most suitable for upholstery, with or without backing, and wall coverings. This is a thick, rough and very natural yarn. It is only produced once a year during the rainy season in Thailand .
